June is here! Half the year is almost gone. Summer is also here. This will be our final Lunch N' Learn until September. A couple of emails ago, I stated that one of the issues that started me on my journey into Canadian history was the Quebec question. As a newcomer to Canada, I did not, and still do not, quite understand why Quebec gets special attention and seems to find issues that set Quebecers apart from the rest of Canada. This Lunch N' Learn seeks to share something I discovered... Quebec celebrates St-Jean-Baptiste Day on June 24th, but it does NOT celebrate Canada Day on July 1st. July 1st is Quebec's Moving Day, when most rental leases end. This deep cultural tradition appears to be more important to many Quebeckers than Canada Day. Join us for Lunch N' Learn #8 - when you will learn about the exact location of Canada's birth and why St. Jean de Baptiste Day should be a national holiday and not a Quebec sovereigntist holiday. ---------------------------------------------------- The Target Is In Sight With your help, we are almost at our target of printing 2,000 copies of the book below for free distribution at the National Day of Prayer from July 9th to 11th. Here's a current bar graph that Gemini designed for me. We have achieved 95.7% of our target to print 2,000 books. We need $189 more to reach our goal (Goal 1 below) I am still praying that the Lord will see fit to allow me to print 5,000 books for free distribution. That's the target for Goal 2 shown in the bar graph above. We have raised 64% of the target. We still need $2,279 by Wednesday, June 10th. Printing starts on June 11th. Based on the promos shown below, over 5,000 people are projected to descend on Ottawa for the National Day of Prayer from 9 to 11 July. These books will be distributed free of charge to attendees. Here is what the special free edition will look like. We are seeking 4 businesses to sponsor colour ads for $250 or more, to be featured on the book's back cover. We have secured black-and-white advertising on the inside back cover of the book at $100 each. We need 2 more sponsors for advertising. On the final page of the book, we will list all the donors. I am trusting God to enable me to print 5,000 copies of my book so that many more people will have the 25 Scripture verses to pray for our government when they gather to pray on Saturday, 11 July. If you cannot sponsor an ad but know a Christian business or church in Ottawa that would welcome affordable advertising, please forward this email to them. I hope we can reach our goal of $6,497 to print 5,000 books, which will be handed out free of charge. Books will be sent to the Peace Tower Church for distribution at the event. Faytene assured me that a tent will be set up for the Saturday event to distribute literature from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Kenneth Copeland Ministries. Our books will also be available alongside those materials if you are in Ottawa for the event. National Day of Prayer Details You can find the details for the National Day of Prayer here.
