Please Tell Mr Trump... You keep saying you don't need Canada, but Canada needs you. But you needed Canada when...
You still need the Welland Canal today.
Your ships still use the St. Lawrence Seaway.
When the Titanic sank in 1912, Canada took in many survivors and buried 150 victims of the disaster in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The gravestones tell their stories. Yet, you say you don't need Canada, but Canada needs you. When 9/11 struck, under Operation Yellow Ribbon, Canada rescued between 224 and 238 planeloads of people who could not fly to the US. Canadians housed and fed between 30,000 and 45,000 passengers and crews. Yet, you say you don't need Canada, but Canada needs you. In 2025, Canada sent its water bombers known as the 'Super Scoopers' (CL-415s) to help with the Palisades fires in California. These Super Scoopers came from Ontario, Quebec and Alberta, dropping water bombs in places where there was inaccessible ground access. Yet, you say you don't need Canada, but Canada needs you. But Mr Trump imposes 50% tariffs because of our Northern fires and the smoke that enveloped American cities. Some of these fires occur in uninhabited areas where there is no road access, and our firemen do their best to control them. It is as if Canada could alter the wind's pattern contrary to the direction God intended. But we know that the fires and their smoke were merely an excuse for him to be ornery. And if we look back on history, we can find countless other examples where we were, and continue to be, helpful neighbours, because that's what good neighbours do. So please, anybody out there, tell Mr Trump that America needs Canada as much as Canada needs America. ------------------------------------------- The Story of The Lost Villages in Pictures My husband and I recently visited this site on our way back from the National Day of Prayer in Ottawa. When we lived south of Ottawa many years ago, we had heard of these submerged villages but never investigated their location. This is quite an eye-opener of the extent of Canadian sacrifice for the progress of both America and Canada. All for expanding trade routes to the Atlantic. Read more of this history here. --------------------------------------------- Come to Brantford - A Staycation Adventure For many years, when we lived south of Ottawa, we hosted homeschooling families in our home to teach them about Canada's Christian past. We offered them room and board, teaching sessions, handouts, and tours to the Parliament Buildings and Ottawa Museums. We are opening up our home to homeschoolers again, for small groups with shared accommodation (families, up to 7 people). Visitors will learn about how Brantford was once important to the Canadian economy, and the many 'firsts' that Brantford is known for.
Other interesting things I learnt about Brantford recently include:

Watch this small video clip of the spirit that dominated the event. I was there to hand out the books personally. Some people I knew helped to spread the word by distributing the books throughout the crowd of approximately 1,000. Other interactions I had included:
Many others were both surprised and encouraged with the knowledge of our Christian heritage and took many copies back to their churches and networks. Pastor Jimmy from the Peace Tower Church will continue to distribute the remainder of the books to other churches in Ottawa. Watch for another Staycation Adventure soon.
